A Right Carry On in 2016

I think most of you would agree that 2016 has been rather a tumultuous year one way or another. It seems that not a day has passed without news of another beloved celebrity passing away. Throw Brexit and Donald Trump into the mix and you have all the ingredients for a rather sour-tasting end of year banquet.

Despite a couple of heartaches, 2016 has actually been rather a good year for me. Here are some of my personal highlights.

Life with Sid James
April 2016 marked the fortieth anniversary of the death of one of the nation's favourite comedy stars, Sid James. As Sid is my comedy hero, I wanted to mark the occasion with something special for my Sid's Place blog, so I was absolutely thrilled when Sid's son, Steve James, agreed to be interviewed about life with his famous dad.
Steve couldn't be more obliging and was an absolute delight to chat with. He shared some wonderfully memories of his dad, many of which you can read at Sid's Place here Sid's Place Welcomes…

A Question of Carry On in The Weekly News

Recently I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Craig Campbell of The Weekly News. I got the opportunity to share my love of the Carry On films and, of course, talk about my new book A Question of Carry On!

Many thanks to Craig Campbell for the lovely interview. A Question of Carry On is available from Amazon - A Question of Carry On Quiz Book

Promoting A Question of Carry On

It's been a bit of a whirlwind last six weeks promoting A Question of Carry On. I've been fortunate enough to have been invited on to a number of BBC local radio shows to chat about the book and the wonderful world of Carry On in general.

Each interview has been immensely enjoyable to record and it's great to see that there is still so much enthusiasm for the Carry On films and a great love for the many wonderful actors who starred in them. I'd like to extend a huge thanks to all of the people who have kindly invited me on to their shows. Also, a big shout-out to Sam Westerby for his tireless work in arranging each interview.

Here are the shows that I have been a guest on, along with broadcast dates.

A Question of Carry On Quiz Book

My latest book is available to purchase from Amazon as of today!

A Question of Carry On features hundreds of questions on all aspects of the beloved Carry On franchise, in addition to containing lots of interesting trivia pieces, some behind the scenes stories and Carry On filmographies for the main Carry On team.

This book has most definitely been a labour of love for me as I have been a huge fan of the Carry Ons for as many years as I can remember. It has certainly been lots of fun reliving so many classic Carry On moments while compiling the questions for the book. In fact, I really couldn't think of a better job!
Currently priced at just £6.99, A Question of Carry On can be purchased from Amazon here... A Question Of Carry On Quiz Book at Amazon

Many thanks to the fine people at Studiocanal Films & The Kobal Collection for supplying the cover image for a Question of Carry On.

Exciting Times Ahead

The next few months have the potential to be very exciting in terms of writing projects, with new books and possible new blogs in the pipeline.

A number of months ago, I mentioned that I had just completed a brand new trivia book based on the much-loved Carry On films. Further developments since have seen this project grow into something much bigger than I originally imagined. If everything goes to plan, this could get very exciting indeed and will be well worth the wait.

While the Carry On project continues to boil, I have now started to plan another book with the working title Telly Trivia: Comedy Edition. That title will no doubt change a number of times before the book is complete.

Celebrating Sid
April 26 2016 will mark the 40th anniversary of the death of the one and only Mr Sidney James. As many of you will know, Sid is my ultimate comedy hero. To mark the occasion, I'll be writing some special posts for the Sid's Place blog.
